GURUGRAM: The police registered an FIR on Thursday around two months after a man was killed and two critically injured as the car they were travelling in hit a drainage and overturned. However, cops did not file a case in the matter at the time. The FIR was registered after the intervention of DCP (south) Himanshu Garg, sources said.
The
accident occurred on the intervening night of December 19 and 20 in Sector 60.
Nikhil (27) and his neighbour Sagar Suhag (25), both residents of Jalvayu Tower in Sector 56 and their friend Ayush Bhagat, a resident of Sector 57, were travelling in Sagar’s Swift. They were returning from a party and were allegedly drunk at the time. According to a complaint filed by Nikhil’s father Dhanbir Singh, a retired Air Force officer, Sagar was driving the car. They lost control on the car as it turned towards Jalvayu Tower Society from Sector 60. The car was allegedly at a high speed due to which it rammed into a drainage pipe before turning turtle.
Tthe police report was compiled under Section 174 CrPC on the basis of the statements provided by the injured survivors. “It was a case of drunken driving, in which we lost our son Nikhil. I had to meet the senior officials including the deputy commissioner of police (south) Himanshu Garg,” Singh told TOI. Following this, the FIR has been registered at Sector 65 under Section 304a (causing death by negligence) of IPC on Thursday, said inspector Shukrapal, SHO at Sector 65 police station.
